Antoine Léon MOREL-FATIO

1810-1871 French Painter French Artist XIXth century...

Official painter of the navy in 1853, he is famous especially as an illustrator and a marine painter.

He took part in the expedition to Alger in 1830 and also in numerous trips and other expeditions including the one to Crimea.

He died of a break stroke seeing the Prussians getting into the Louvre in 1871 while he was being one of their curators.
