Biography: Constantin Alejsandrovitch WESTCHILOFF
1877-1945
Constantin Alexandrovitch Westchiloff is born in 1877 in St Petersburg.
Westchiloff studied at the Fine Arts Academy under I. Repine who made a portrait of Constantin in 1898.
It's from 1901 onwards that Westchiloff began taking part in the Salons and in 1904, he wan the Fine Arts Academy Gold Medal.
In 1906, Westchiloff started his journeys abroad and got a a passion for battle scenes. He began creating seascapes with battles.
Afterwards, he made design for theatres, portraits of famous people and began organizing revolutionarist feasts.
Westchiloff moved later on to Paris in order to carry his painter life on in France.
In 1945, the artist Constantin Westchiloff died, without his talent being recognized in Russia.
Nowadays, you can find Westchiloff's artworks in Russian museums such as the Art Museum in Odessa or the Art Museum in Berdians.
