Biography : DIAQUE Ricardo
1870-1900
Like many Spanish painters of the 19th century Corchon came to Paris to study painting and apparently settled there. According to Benezit, he exhibited in Paris from 1878 onward and there are examples of his work sellings in Paris from 1884 until 1927.
Diaque’s desire was to depict the popular aspect of the Belle Epoque and the modern leisure activity of the bourgeois. In addition to its progressive theme, the works demonstrate the Diaque’s ability to capture the vibrant light of the south with a quick and lively touch.
