Élie-Anatole Pavil
Born in Odessa in May 1873, Élie-Anatole Pavil arrived in äris in 1892 together with his master Vereschaguine.
Pavil works with Bouguereau and Detaille. George Bernheim's hosts Elie-Anatole Pavil's first personnal exhibition in 1907.
Pavil will from then exhibit often at Georges Petit's, at Charpentier's, Berhaim's as well as at Salons, whether it is at the Fall's Salon or at the French Artists' Salon.
Pavil's artworks are mainly in nationwide and municipal collections.
Pavil was in love with the night , with Paris and with Montmartre and became owing to his way of painting the painter of an era. His paintings are both spontaneous and sincere, while keeping an unfinished touch contrasting with the fugitive image of life the paintings show.
In 1935, Elie-Anatole Pavil leaves France to go to Morocco where he carried on painting until his death in 1944.
