Frants Alekseevich Rubo (Roubaud)

1856- 1928

Frants Alekseevich Rubo (Roubaud) was born in Odessa in 1856. He studied in a drawing school in Odessa from 1865 till 1877.

Since 1877, he was studying at the Academy of Arts in München. He took an active part as a painter in St. Petersburg. His favourite topics were panoramas and battles. His well-known panoramas include The Defence of Sebastopol. Between 1904 and 1912 he was at the Imperial Academy of Arts in St- Peterburg where he was a head of battle-painting studio. He became an academician in 1908 and active member of Academy of Arts in 1910. He died in 1928 in München, Germany.
