WAROQUIER Henry de WAROQUIER
1881-1970
Henry de Waroquier was a famous painter from the first half of the
twentieth century. Waroquier created the wall-composition
“Tragedy”,that was dedicated for the new palace Chaillot in 1937.
He
debuted in his professional carrier as a landscape artist. The first
masterpieces he created were representing landscapes of the Bretagne in
France. The style in his paintings was a mixture of elegance, elements
from the Japanese artistic influence, art nouveau as well as elements
from the influence of the school of Pont-Aven in France.
Lately, in the masterpieces of Waroquier could be seen features from the cubism and the expressionism.
Henry de Waroquier was a professor in the School Estienne in Paris. During his travels in Italy and Spain he was depicting different human figures. The faces in his paintings reflect some tragic trait.
