YAKOVLEV, Alexander YAKOVLEV

"To give pleasure to myself and the people looking at my art" – this is the philosophy of the art of Alexander Yakovlev.
His paintings seem to be very different but at the same time they are very similar - because they reflect their author's personality. And Alexander is an experimenter in art. He likes to try something new every time he starts a new painting.
The artist prefers the genres of portrait, landscape, still live, nu.
Alexander Yakovlev was born in a small town Rodakovo in Lugansk region but when he was a school boy his family moved to another town. And in 1965 after taking an access course Alexander entered Lugansk State Art School in Lugansk. After two weeks of studies he was moved up in the next year, because of his excellent master of the first-year curriculum. In 1968 the artist entered Kharkov Institute of Industrial Art, the department of interior and equipment where he got the possibility to experiment with different materials – glass, lead, dyestuff. Alexander designed drafts of the stained - glass window for the hall of the institute.
In 1973-1974 he was in the army where he designed a model for the museum of the air defense forces. In 1977 he was appointed to a position of the chief artist in Lugansk. But this job did not leave time and possibility for creative work. So he resigned from the position and started a new job as a designer in the army. During the army service he developed three museums for the Soviet Army. In 1987 he came back to Lugansk and in 1997 he became a teacher in Lugansk State Art School where he works now.
