Antonio Ruiz, El Corzo, 1892-1964
Né en 1892, Ruiz a étudié à Morelia et entra en 1916 à l'Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts?
Cet artiste, Ruiz, distingué par son empreinte particulière pour le dessin et ses compétences d'analyse, fut connu sous le surnom de "El Corzo" ou "El Corcito", ressemblant physiquement au toréador espagnol.
Ruiz alla à Hollywood dans les années 20, et il y conçu des stes pour les Studios Universal.
De Formation académique, Antonio Ruiz était admiré également pour ses principes artistiques. Il aida à promouvoir la méthode de dessin Best Maugard, et fut le fondateur et directeur de l'Ecole Nationale de peinture et de sculpture Esmeralda, où il enseignait la peinture.
Il alla aux Etats-Unis multiples fois où certains musées hébergeaient déjà certaines de ses oeuvres.
Il Exposa à l'Exposition internationale de Surréalisme en 1940 tout comme de nombreuses expositions de pièces de collection aux Etats-Unis.
Born in 1892, he studied in Morelia and in 1916 entered the National Shool of Fine Arts. This artist, distinguished by his particular imprint in drawing and his analytical skill, was known by the nickname "El Corzo" or "El corcito", because of his physical resemblance to a famous Spanish bullfighter.
In the twenties he went to Hollywood, where he designed sets for Universal Studios. Academic in training, Antonio Ruiz was admired for his art principles. He helped to promote the Best Maugard drawing method, and was founder and director of La Esmeralda National School of Painting and Sculpture, where he also taught painting. He went to the United States several times, where some important museums house works of his.
He exhibited in the International Exhibition of Surrealism in 1940 and in numerous collective exhibitions in the United States.
