Gabriella Bailey, born in 1999, is a figurative painter who takes her subjects from what is intimate and at-hand: flowers from the garden; moments shared with friends; recollections from trips abroad. Her work offers up a tender reflection on daily life, capturing familiar in-between moments, which Virginia Woolf referred to as the “cotton wool of daily life.” Gabriella seeks to give form to these experiences in a visual language characterised by spatial rhythms and harmony expressed in colour. By attending closely to the world around her, by looking, reflecting, and dreaming, even the most seemingly unremarkable things may disclose their uniqueness.
Gabriella grew up in Dorset and is currently based in Oxford and London, where she is completing a Masters in Fine Art at City and Guilds of London Art School. She exhibits regularly in galleries, and the New English Art Club at the Mall Galleries, London.
