Marc Taylor is a self-taught artist whose work is rooted in painting and the reinvention of found materials. With a background in the antiques trade, he often sources old canvases, frames, and ephemera from antique shops and brocantes, transforming them into new works that carry both history and immediacy.

His paintings draw inspiration from the still life tradition and the work of Juan Gris, Georges Braque, and Robert MacBryde. Through a process of layering and reworking, Taylor creates compositions that combine structure with vibrancy, bringing unexpected colour and rhythm to overlooked fragments of the past.

Reclamation and renewal are central to his practice. Each work becomes a conversation between what was lost and what can be reimagined, celebrating the beauty of transformation and the persistence of visual language across time.

Marc works from his studio at home on the Romney Marsh coast of Kent.
